IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE 2008 SEASON:
The Traveling Baseball program provides intensive skill development
and a high level of competition. The program offers opportunities to
develop confidence and teamwork while competing with teams
representing other area communities.
The typical season
runs through the end of July. Players and parents can expect to play
approximately 14 league games and three to four weekend tournaments,
with 2-4 practices per week including weekends. Teams that make a
state tournament may play into the first week of August. The
schedules for players 16 and older will very depending on their
individual league.
Registration for Traveling Baseball is conducted in January.
Registration fees covering league and tournament expenses and the
cost of uniforms and equipment are established annually. An
additional equipment and volunteer deposit will be required.
Participants also should plan for additional expenses of at least
$50 during the season for local and regional tournaments and other
miscellaneous expenses.
Tryouts are conducted in March. A non-refundable tryout fee will be
collected during registration. Team selection is on a competitive
basis, as players are evaluated in comparison with others in their
age group. Eligibility is based on the participant’s age as of April
30. Players may choose to play up with their school grade but must
notify the tryout director before tryouts or during registration.
Tryout evaluations measure performance in hitting, infield, and
outfield skills. Players not selected for a traveling team are
offered the opportunity to be placed on an EAA in-house team but
must register immediately after notification.
Players must reside within the EAA membership area as defined in the
EAA by-laws. Players attending school outside Eagan may tryout for
either the Eagan program or the community program where they attend
school but may not participate in both tryouts.
Eagan Travel Baseball is a member of the Metro Baseball League (MBL)
for its 10U – 15U age groups. MBL is the largest independent league
in the country. Information on rules, equipment requirements,
league schedules, and standings can be found on the
www.mbl.bz website. Players 16 and over will play in VFW,
Senior Babe Ruth, and Legion baseball leagues.
Adult volunteer support is needed to ensure a successful program.
Opportunities are available for those interested in being involved
as a coach, team parent, tournament coordinator, or board member. |
